Bruce’s Review Of The “10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success And Failure”

10x rule by grant cardoneLast night I started reading a book that was mentioned by Connie Green as part of her 30 day challenge program. This is my review of Grant Cardone’s book, “10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success And Failure”. In this review I will take a look at what I believe are the major points surrounding the Grant’s 10x rule.

Of course, it is not my intention nor desire to give away everything that is contained in this book. But, I will elaborate on the few points in the book that I got a lot out of.

Before we get started I want to state that before I read any book I ask myself two questions which help me focus the information and put it into context. The first question, “What is the single best outcome I am looking to get from reading this book?” and the second question, “How and when will I apply what I have learned?” If you get into the habit of doing this before you read a book or take a course you will find that your level of satisfaction grows exponentially, that is if the information you seek is actually delivered.

10X RuleWhy The 10X Rule Is A Must Read

After finishing the 10x rule I think it’s an absolute must read for the budding entrepreneur because it gives you a plan to gain control over your business and other areas of of your life you want to have more control over. It also explains what you must do to not lose the existing control you have in your business and life.

The book goes in detail about how applying the main principle can assist you in gaining more positive influence among your family and friends. Of course the 10x rule is also all about gaining the satisfaction that comes from being able to do something that few can.

10X RuleWhat Exactly Is The 10x Rule?

The book is based on the 10x rule which is defined as follows:

Concept based on understanding the correct estimation of how much effort and thought are required to get anything done successfully. Where others perform one action, the 10x rule says to do 10 actions and to set targets 10 times higher than you first imagines”when you set a goal you need to multiply by ten the estimated amount of effort and action that will be required to attain it.

Practically speaking that means if you were originally planning on setting a financial goal of say making $10,000 this month then using the 10x Rule you would change it to $100,000 and plan on doing ten times the number of originally planned actions.

The rule when enacted is really about getting into the habit of always doing more than expected. This will change what you consider to be “normal”. This goes hand in hand with the idea of motion begets motion…

So before I get into my own personal implementation of some of the basic tenets of the 10x rule let’s take a look at three of the principles that appealed to me the most.

  1. Success Means Overcoming A Challenge.
It’s simply amazing to me how quickly we forget the definition of success. It literally means to overcome a challenge. So to those who are seeking it understand that to get it means you will have to slay a dragon or three. Seriously, you need to understand this right upfront so you are mentally prepared for the challenges when they show up. The massive action you will be performing daily is where you will cut your teeth with this and make it yours.
  2. The 10X Rule Makes It Possible To Expand Time.
This was another great idea that I captured while reading this book. The only way to increase time is to get more done with the time you have. This is where working smarter and more efficient comes into the picture for all of you time management junkies.
  3. Things Which Matter Most Are Based On The Actions We Take Daily.
This is a little Obvious Adams here but I include it because this is one of those important distinctions that tends to get over-looked. Let’s take a step back first and ask why? The basic understanding is that thinking happens first and then action follows. So in order to take daily action on something it needs to be part of your daily mental focus right? The book gives two exercises for this as follows:
    1. Write down goals daily
    2. Choose objectives just out of reach

10X RuleHow I Plan To Implement The 10x Rule

There were a lot of actionable ideas presented in the book. Remember, when I started writing this review that I said you should read with an intent and time frame of implementation in mind?

So that end I will be implementing the idea of writing my goals down daily and choosing objectives that are just out of reach. This will also give me the side benefit(s) of prioritization and focus. This is something I will do as early as possible in my day to get me in alignment for the entire day.

What will you get out of the book when you read it?
